As part of this, residents of Sarvodaya Enclave and Azad Apartments, New Delhi came together to participate in the “दो Mutthi Aahaar” drive, an anti-hunger initiative launched in both colonies simultaneously. The campaign was started with the purpose of collecting food grains for the needy.
Mr. Harpreet Singh Malhotra, MD, Tiger Logistics (India) Ltd. said, “When individual fingers come together, they form a mighty fist, so is the case with children- the strength in their determination increases tenfold when they all join hands for a cause. “दो Mutthi Aahaar” is part of our continuous support towards the society to promote equality and oneness. The coming together of students depicts how one nation can be bonded together to eradicate unwanted prevailing situations of society”.
Shri Somnath Bharti, MP, Aam Aadmi Party was the chief guest at the event and he appreciated the efforts of the students, applauding the continuous work of Tiger Logistics towards the welfare of the society. Shri Bahrti promised ample support from Delhi Government for such practices and advised everyone to make “दो Mutthi Aahaar” not just a periodic social welfare campaign but a mass movement within the city.
Over 450 kilograms of grains were accumulated as part of the drive which was spearheaded by Ishan Malhotra, a class X student of Jayshree Periwal International School. Volunteering children distributed the amassed grains among the underprivileged in the neighbourhood while taking a promise from them that they would keep their vicinity clean.
The food collection drive was followed by a stage show depicting how hunger is a cause of concern for everyone. Every child boasted the strength they had in their "MUTTHI" and read out slogans loudly- 'AAO DEKHO DO MUTTHI KA DUM'!! The pledging of the kids was greeted with thunderous applause by the crowd gathered at the venue to witness the event.
The drive “दो Mutthi Aahaar” was initiated and funded by the NGO PARVAAH. PARVAAH is an NGO run by students. They undertake various projects to empower and aid needy people.
