New Delhi; 21st November 2016: Jashn-e-Adab, The Society of Poetry and Literature proudly announces the 4th and 5th phase of 5th Edition of its Poetry and Cultural festival to be hosted on 10th and 11th December, 2016 at India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi. Jashn-E-Adab aims to highlight the role of writers, poets, journalists and critics in balancing the society and celebrate the rich tradition of Urdu poetry & literature. With celebrated personalities like Javed Akhtar, Ashok Chakradhar, Tom Alter, Kavita Seth,Om Thanvi and other dignitaries from the world of Urdu poetry and literature, the 5th edition is going to get bigger and better.
The special edition of the programme is to celebrate, relive and felicitate the rich contribution of Mr. Javed Akhtar towards poetry and literature in India.The two day event will be inaugurated by Mr. Anil Baijal, IAS, Ex Home Secretary, Govt. of India, Dr. Ashok Chakradhar and Prof. Sharif Hanfi.
Day one of the event will witness the discussion on the importance of language other than being a communication tool, discussion about “Mirzawadi”, A novel written by Mr. Parvez Ahmed, Poetry Recitation and Award Ceremony.
Day two of the event will host a discussion with Mr. Javed Akhtar on contribution of Urdu Poetry in Hindi Cinema, Mirza Ghalib’s Poetry recitation by none other than Mr. Tom Alter, screening of a thought provoking play written by Mr. Parvez Ahmed ‘Bol Ke Lab Azaad Hein’. Another highlight of the event will be Dastangoi – A 16th-century Urdu oral storytelling art form directed by Mahmood Farooqui and stunning performance by Gazal and Sufi playback singer Ms. Kavita Seth.
The event will witness participation from various renowned poets from India such as Mr. Banaj Kumar Banaj, Mr. Farhaad Ehsaas, Mr. Fayyaz Faroqi, Ms. Indu Singh, Mr. Khusbeer Singh Shaad, Mr. Manish Shukla, Ms. Neena Kumar, Mr. Zammarrud Mughal, Dr. Variza Mr. Shariq Kaifi.
