CREDAI to Mark Labour Day with Fun and Games for Labourer Families across Member Projects

Bangalore, April 25th 2017: It is a long weekend that everybody is looking forward to. May Day or Labour Day is universally celebrated as May 1st 2017 as a day to take a break from the monotony of the daily work routine. CREDAI-Bengaluru recognizes that such a day of relaxation is certainly due for all the labourers across its member projects. In light of this, the organization has planned a day filled with fun, games and good food for all labourers and their families, across member projects in the city at the Mount Carmel College Grounds in Vasanthnagar. CREDAI-Bengaluru expects around 900 labourers to be a part of this celebration.

Organized as part of the CSR activities taken up by CREDAI, the day-long event will open with a formal function and will be inaugurated at 8 AM. Gates to the venue will open an hour in advance to ensure that all families arrive in time to attend the formal function.

Activities at the event will include sporting events such as sack race, running races, shot put and long jump. It is a fact that there is great anticipation among workers for this event and a number of informal practices are on across the city and various sites, during off hours. The activities for the day will be followed by lunch and a felicitation ceremony for the distribution of prizes.

Apart from food all participants are given useful gift from the association. Invariably it's utensils or carry bags which are badly needed fir their day to day usage .

“We see construction happening around us all the time. Most labourers on these sites work tirelessly and at most times invisibly to get a project up and ready for inauguration. They are often forgotten about soon after. We believe that we owe to them at least one day where we show our appreciation for all that they do and the hard conditions they work and live in with their families,” says Suresh Hari, Secretary, CREDAI Bengaluru.
