CHENNAI BORN T. KRISHNAKUMAR TAKES OVER AS PRESIDENT OF COCA-COLA INDIA AND SOUTH WEST ASIA

Chennai, May 12, 2017: Thirumalai Krishnakumar, popularly known as KK has been appointed the President of Coca-Cola India and South West Asia, effective May 2017. Prior to this appointment, he served as the CEO and South West Asia Regional Director of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Limited – one of India’s top 5 FMCG companies. He replaces Venkatesh Kini, who after capably serving the company for 19 years, has decided to leave the company and return to the United States to pursue other opportunities outside the Coca-Cola system.

T. Krishnakumar, whose family hails from Tirunelveli district was born in Chennai and studied in Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary Schools in Chennai. He completed his Pre-University from Loyola College, Chennai and passed his B.E. in Electronics from College of Engineering, Guindy. He is an alumnus of IIM, Bangalore and has done an Advanced Management program from Wharton Business School.

His longest work stint other than in the Coca-Cola system has been with the Murugappa Group, where he worked in the Electronics division of EID Parry and with Parry Confectionery, for 13 years. He has the distinction of building consumer brands like Meltrack cassettes and confectionery brands like Coffy Bite, lacto King and Coconut Punch. He worked closely with Mr. M M Murugappan, Vice Chairman of the Murugappa Group, and considers him as his role model and mentor.

He has also worked in Asian Paints; IFFCO Group, Dubai; Henkel India before joining the Coca-Cola system in India as Region Vice President, East, back in 2004. He now serves on the Board of Coca-Cola Amatil, Australia, Coca-Cola Amatil, Indonesia, International Beverages Pvt Ltd, Bangladesh and Coca-Cola Bottlers Sri Lanka Limited.

Announcing the appointment, Mr. John Murphy, President Asia Pacific Group, The Coca-Cola Company, said, “KK is uniquely qualified for this role, having successfully led the Company’s bottling operations in India and South West Asia since 2009. He is a strategic, well-rounded leader, and has been a catalyst for expanding our portfolio and driving growth in every position he has previously held.”
