Triple Olympic Gold Medalist & International Event Ambassador deliver the keynote address

Bengaluru, 20th May 2017: On the eve of the celebratory tenth edition of the TCS World10K, Procam International in association with GoSports Foundation hosted ‘Beyond the FinInternational Evish Line (BTFL),' presented by Tata Consultancy Services . The event conducted at ITC Windor, the event’s hospitality partner, was an evening dedicating to recognizing, rewarding &reinforcing the catalysts of Indian Sport.

The evening, in three parts, hosted by Rahul Bose, told the stories of the Indian athletes, beyond the finish line, when goals were accomplished and new goals were set. On an evening that celebrated the small wins and the big victories, guests heard from members of the ice hockey fraternity, including the personal journeys of adventure sports enthusiast  Akshay Kumar, who has spearheaded the Indian ice hockey movement; Padma Chorol, the first Indian woman to score an international goal in ice hockey; and Tsewang Gyaltson, captain of the Indian Men's Ice Hockey team since 2015, and also during the recent Challenge Cup of Asia in Kuwait, where India secured second position. Their stories, were a reflection of commitment and hard work, with the Ice Hockey fraternity never losing faith in the times of adversity.


Also present with them, was C. S. Santosh, winner of the inaugural, Indian Grand Prix of the seas who was still excited to be World Champion in a sport that he learned a few months ago, recounting his ability to understand and ace the sport within 7 days, Santosh’s remarkable achievements resulted in huge round of applause.

The panel was completed by Olympic and Paralympic heroes; Dattu Bhokanal, who finished 13th in the Rowing Single Sculls event at the Olympics, two-time Paralympic Gold medallist Devendra Jhajharia, and Bronze medallist Varun Bhati. Stephanie Rice, triple Olympic gold medallist from the Beijing Olympics, also shared her personal journey as a world record breaker with the guests present during the evening.

These stories deserve centre stage and this evening provides them just that.”

It is nice to see other sports get attention in India post the Rio Olympics. As a result, quite a few inspiring stories are now coming to the fore, and we at GoSports Foundation work towards creating inspiration through sport. As part of this, we support Olympian Dattu Bhokanal and Paralympic medallists Devendra Jhajharia and Varun Bhati through our programmes, and it was wonderful to have them as panellists on this edition of BTFL."
