Spirits exist within carved Tahitian Pearls

Pearls. What kind of imagery does the word pearl connote – white, incandescent, beautiful. Contrary to popular perception, black pearls are becoming the rage among fashionistas. Tahitian pearls are prized for their rich black tone with peacock and aubergine overtones. These beautiful black pearls are only found in the French Polynesian islands of Tahiti, where the black lipped oyster is found. The most valuable of these are of the Dark variety, as the naturally dark tones of the Tahitian pearls form a unique quality of pearls.

If folklore is to be believed, then a carved pearl which is worn with respect or given and received with love, takes on part of the spirit of those who wear or handle it. In this way, it becomes a spiritual link between people spanning time and distance. A carved Tahitian black pearl that has been worn by family or members over many generations contains the spirit of all those people and is truly a great and powerful treasure.

C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers, for the first time in India, introduces one of French Polynesia’s finest work of art. One of the unique features of Tahitian pearls is that they form a thick layer of nacre, which allows our artists to carve beautiful patterns on these organic wonders of nature.

Each pearl has a unique motif which conveys particular meanings, deep rooted in French Polynesian culture:

Shark Teeth:
