New Delhi, 12th July 2017: Finolex Industries Limited (FIL), India’s largest manufacturer of PVC pipes and fittings organized a skilling workshop for plumbers in Faridabad, NCR. The workshop was attended by 200 plumbing technicians from Delhi region who were briefed about the best practices related to plumbing and sanitation.

All three real estate sectors in Delhi NCR — office, retail and residential — are displaying growth on account of the suburban towns surrounding the prime city. International property consultancy Jones Lang LaSalle, India said in a report that Delhi-NCR is the largest urban agglomeration in India and the second largest in the world. All this has increased the demand of skilled workers in the region.

The training touched upon the basic do’s and don’ts of plumbing; provided information on plumbing essentials like safety guidelines, sewerage systems, drainage systems amongst others. The plumbing technicians were also trained about the market potential, the real estate scenario and ways to conduct themselves in the market for commanding wage benefits. Finolex also introduced the plumbers to the new Finolex FlowGuard Plus CPVC pipes and fittings range of the company, which was launched earlier this year. A product manufactured in collaboration with Lubrizol Corporation, USA the largest manufacturers of CPVC compound worldwide;
Finolex FlowGuard Plus CVPC pipes and fittings is a product targeted specifically to cater to residential plumbing need. Finolex appreciated the continuous support and contribution of senior plumbers to the industry.
This move from Finolex assumes great significance as there is a huge shortage of skilled plumbers in India. As per industry estimates, about 90 % of the plumbing industry in India lacks professional training thus at times putting the Indian construction at a major crisis of quality workforce.

In the last couple of years Finolex has focused on consolidating in their real estate /construction segment. “While agriculture still brings in the lion’s share of the company’s revenue – about 70% at present - the focus is on increasing the share of real estate/construction-related pipes and fittings to about 45-50% from the current level of 30% within three years,”  said Mr. Nitin Kulkarni, President, Sales & Marketing, Finolex Industries Ltd. He further added, “Creating a pool of skilled plumbers for installation and maintenance of high quality products is very important. This vision has multifarious connotations for both the stakeholders. On one hand, plumbers are benefited by the skill upgradation programme and the resultant increase in their earning potential. On the other hand Finolex Industries gains trust of the community.”

Finolex Industries which has its warehouse in Delhi currently which serves the entire Northern market. The warehouse has a capacity of roughly 350 metric tonnes.

Plumbers actively participated in this plumber meet and expressed their sentiments towards this initiative.
