Hyderabad Runners’ Relay Race 3.0

Thrice the charm!

Hyderabad 23 July, 2017 : It is an exciting time for amateur athletes and fitness enthusiasts in Hyderabad. As the city is gearing up for the upcoming Airtel Hyderabad Marathon, Hyderabad Runners hosted the third edition of their relay race! A team event for runners who want to share the joy of running with those near and dear?

So, the sunny morning of 23 July saw nearly 70 teams (of four members in each team) and 31 volunteers gather near MMTS Station, Necklace Road to participate in the super-fun relay race. To the uninitiated, a relay race is a type of race each contestant is required to run a certain distance (in this case - 6kms) and upon completion pass the baton on to the next runner (what an atmosphere of competitive spirit that resulted in!)

Furthermore, teams were required to come dressed and prizes were handed out to top three costumes. Not only this, there were also prizes for best team names and names that won were –

Best Costume

·         YOLO JATRA – Bonalu festival costume

·         The GOOD, The BAD, The Ugly – The COW BOY’s STYLE

·         Aam Aadmi Runs – Arvind Kejriwal

Best Team Name

·         Bhaago Yaaron BAIGAN (typical Hyderabadi language

·         R.I.O.T (Run is Our Therapy)

It wasn’t all fun and frolic though. Some runners were there to win and win in style they did.

All said and done, it was an exciting Sunday morning, a race well-organised and run what with everyone leaving the venue with a huge smile on their face (and I am not talking just about the winners).

Thanks to Hyderabad Police and HMDA for the support in organising this run.
