The Jenzer driver takes finishes 4th in Race 1 and 6th in Race 2

27 August 2017, Spa: Arjun Maini put on a great show over the race weekend at Spa after a disappointing run last time round at Hungary. He showed incredible pace at the practice and qualifying sessions before qualifying an impressive 3rd on a lively track. He handled his car well over both races to claim P4 in Race 1, and P6 in Race 2 after starting 5th on the grid. Arjun is now 8th in the driver's championship with 12 and 4 points each from both races.

Arjun's weekend at Spa began very strong at the practice session, constantly in the top 5 before a few problems slowed him down by the end of the session. The JK Tyre and TVS supported driver started qualifying also in great form, by setting quick times throughout session and even led the the qualifier with 4 minutes to go, however last minute action from the ART GP drivers pushed Arjun into 3rd on the grid on drying track which initially started late due to bad weather.

The first race began with Arjun starting on the second row of the grid. Despite not having the best of starts, he managed to hold on to 4th place through constant pressure from Boccolacci for most of the race. He closed in on the two cars in front of him with a few laps to go, but could not catch them in time; earning himself a deserved 4th place finish and took 12 points from Race 1.

Maini was set to carry through the good form from Saturday onto Sunday where he was set to start in P5 following the reverse grid rule. Some persistent driving from Fukuzumi meant Arjun lost a few places by the 10th lap of the race. He drove consistently well through the rest of the race, and a late 5-second penalty for Kari ensured Arjun finished well within the points again with a firm P6 finish.

Talking about the weekend at Spa, Arjun said, “Spa has always been one of my favourite tracks on the race calendar. I had a good qualifying session on Saturday followed by strong results in both races to earn valuable points in the championship. The car felt really good from the beginning, and it showed. It was important for me to come back from a bit of a disappointment at Budapest and I feel like I've had a positive weekend here at Spa. I'm looking forward to continue this good form heading into Monza"
