The fragrances and flavours of the harvest festival of Onam is back!

At SOUTHERN SPICE, the iconic South Indian restaurant at Taj Coromandel, the traditional Onam Thali, recreated by the team of Chefs led by Executive Chef Sujan Mukherjee, gives guests a taste of the most-authentic Kerala delicacies. The menu is a compilation of the all-time classic favourites from Kerala, including Avial (A mélange of local vegetables cooked with a coconut and cumin spice mix); Carrot & beans thoran (Carrot and beans tossed with coconut and spices); Pachakka Kalan (Raw banana cooked in black pepper spiked yoghurt curry); Mathangya vanpayaru erissery (Red pumpkin and black eyed peas in a chilli, cumin and coconut gravy); llitheeyal (Shallots simmered in a toasted coconut and tamarind gravy); and Karamani mizhukkuperatti (Fresh long beans tempered with shallots,chili flakes and home ground spice). Savour these with accompaniment like Idiyappam (String hoppers); Appam (Rice hoppers); Red rice, and Steamed ponni rice, together with Beetroot Pachadi, Sweet mango kichadi, and Injipuli.

Delectable desserts like Elada (Jaggery and coconut in steamed rice casings); Paal payasam (Rice and milk pudding) and the much-loved Nendra pazham Pradhaman (A payasam made with Nendram banana with jaggery and coconut milk) complete this exotic Onam meal, which is available only for lunch.
