 PRESENTSMORE THAN 150 NEW HERO SCOOTERSTOWOMEN POLICE OFFICERSOF‘SHETEAM’


Hyderabad, August 17, 2017 

Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today presented more than 150 new Hero scooters to the women police officers of Telangana Police department.

Equipped with sirens, traffic lights and PA systems, the Hero scooters will empower women police officers and allow them to conveniently perform their patrolling duties. The Hero scooters were presented to the women police officers that are part of the special ‘SHETEAM’. An all women force set-up to enhance the safety of women in the city

Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO& Head - CSR, Hero MotoCorp, handed over 70 scooters to Shri M. Mahender Reddy, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad); 50 scooters to Shri Sandeep Shandilya, IPS(Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad) and 39 scooters to Shri Mahesh M. Bhagawat, IPS (Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda). Also present on the occasion were other senior police and Hero MotoCorp officials.


Speaking on the occasion,Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO & Head - CSR, Hero MotoCorp said, "As the market leader and a responsible corporate citizen, Hero MotoCorp is committed to promote Road Safety and Women Empowerment. We are constantly engaged in increasing awareness on these key topics through a series of programmes at the national and regional levels.Telangana is yet another state where we have partnered with the state police department in an effort to bring effective changes in the society. Today’s initiative will prove to be big step forward for our association with Telangana Police and our national efforts.“

Hero MotoCorp has handedmore than 250 two-wheelers to Haryana Police and Utrakhand Police since last year, under various initiatives such as ‘Project Sakhi’.

Under the aegis of its CSR initiative, Ride Safe India, Hero MotoCorpalso conducts various nationwide programs to promote road safety.

Hero MotoCorp has adopted Traffic Parks at Hyderabad, Gurugram, Delhi, Rourkela, Lucknow, and Nagpur, which are equipped with Riding Simulators and other state-of-the-art facilities, where Road Safety awareness programs are conducted regularly for school and college students and other institutions in partnership with the local Traffic Police.


Hero MotoCorp also runs a Student Police Cadets (SPC) program in association with the Haryana Police, which has been a resounding success since its inception. Students from 50 schools in Gurugram are enrolled in multiple planned activities to inculcate sensibilities such as respect for law and community skills in their personalities. This programme instills social values in the students while providing them with physical fitness training.
