MUSEUM OF MEMORIES: REMEMBERING PARTITION

Mumbai: The Godrej India Culture Lab and its collaborators are proud to present Remembering Partition: Museum of Memories, on August 4|5|6.

This is a unique 3 day event in the form of a pop up museum on the Godrej campus in Vikhroli, that marks 70 years since the Partition of the subcontinent into India, Pakistan and Bangladesh (then East Pakistan). The event will be packed with a range of discussions, performances, screenings, exhibitions and much more, all united by the common thread of Partition, the largest mass migration in modern human history. The event has two separate parts.
A. Different art and history exhibitions across Godrej One campus – including a special preview of rare objects brought from the Partition Museum in Amritsar
B. Performances, discussions, showcases, screenings and more in the Auditorium at Godrej One (schedule below)
The event will also witness participation from well-known personalities such as Shyam Benegal, Nandita Das, Govind Nihalani, Ramesh Sippy and Soni Razdan as well as musical performances by bands like Kabir Café.
The event is free and open for all.

STITCHING HISTORY
Curated by Nonita Kalra, editor of Harper’s Bazaar India featuring specially created garments by fashion designers Sabyasachi, Abraham & Thakore, JJ Valaya, Tarun Tahiliani, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Shantanu and Nikhil, and Rajesh Pratap Singh.

THE MUSEUM OF OBJECTS
Featuring ordinary objects with extraordinary memories contributed by citizens of Mumbai, displayed with others that have been specially brought to Mumbai from the Partition Museum, Amritsar.

ECHOES OF SINDH
Post partition stories of those who settled in Sindhi Camp, Chembur presented by School of Environment and Architecture, Mumbai.

SPLIT ENDS
Embroidered by Kutch artists, this multimedia work was used in the animation of Mukund and Riaz by filmmaker and artist Nina Sambnani
