Rotary Club in partnership with the Department of Commerce, University of Madras organised Blood Donation Camp

Rotary club of Madras Besant Nagar has been contributing to the society at large. Though the club is small in membership strength, it has a large heart. Service has not so far been limited to geographical limits of any particular territory, because the club believes that service to humanity has no barriers.  This club thrives on the strong bonding between the members and their families, from which service ideas crop up and are nurtured and followed up for execution. As one of the initiatives Rotary Club in partnership with the Department of Commerce, University of Madras organised the blood donation camp on 18th September 2017 at Versatile Business School, Egmore, Chennai.

The President of Rotary Club R.R. Aroon Kumar, Secretary S. Venkataraman, Treasurer V.N. Krishnan, Dr. J. Balasubramaniam & Dr. V. Mythily Medical  Directors of Voluntary Health services and Dr. R. Shanthi, Secretary Madras University Commerce Alumni Association (MUCAA) made their gracious presence  in the camp which started at 9.00 a.m. and went up to 2.00 p.m.

Students from various colleges voluntarily participated with enthusiasm, deepened their social responsibility and made this event a big success. The donated blood will aid the children those who are affected by thalassemia, an infected autosomal recessive blood disorder that causes the weakening and destruction of red blood cells. Many children are affected by this disease; they need blood every 21 days once to live. Voluntary Health Services will help the affected children to get benefited from the daily free transfusions provided by the blood bank.  The camp helped the community in gaining awareness about the disease too.

Dr. R. Shanthi, Secretary Madras University Commerce Alumni Association (MUCAA) thanked Dr. D.T. Roshini Baba, Director of Versatile Business School, Mr.Thomas Jacob for their immense support in organising the event and she also acknowledged the overwhelming participation of the students from various colleges and alumni members of the department
