Witness heavy advance booking rush for festive season


Moving away from the convention wherein festivals were usually celebrated with family, friends at home, Indians are now increasingly opting for travel. There has been a shift in how people celebrate festivals, they are expanding their horizon and now looking celebrate this once perceived family-oriented festival with travel. While earlier restricted with urban/metro travelers, travelling during the festival season has now has become widespread trend across tier-I and tier-II markets as well. People have increasingly started taking more than one trip in a year as was the case till some years ago. To cater to this growing demand, travel brands are curating special festival-related packages around these festivals Durga Puja, Diwali. Travel brands are witnessing heavy rush of travelers for the same. Below attached is the detailed data from travel brands.

Cleartrip Data:

Top 3 domestic destinations include Goa, Pondicherry, Visakhapatnam and international destination includes Singapore, Dubai and Bali. Booking trend in terms of profile of travellers are 3% - Solo, 28% - Couple, 35% - Family and 33% Groups. Cleartrip is also seeing a higher inclination towards advance booking this year. 31% of bookings were made over 3 months in advance. As we approach the festive weekends, these numbers will go higher especially for Diwali and Christmas weekends as we appear closer to the dates.
· Dussehra weekend: 530%
· Diwali weekend: 170%
· Christmas weekend: 139%
Stay duration: 88% of the bookings observed so far are for a duration of 1-3 days, suggesting people are preferring short haul trips during the upcoming Dussehra-Diwali weekends.

· Based on the transactional information for the Dussehra( Long Weekend), Travelyaari witness an increase in the bookings for Goa, Delhi, Manali, Simla, Nainital, katra
