Bridal Label To Watch Out For This Fall: Pink Peacock Couture

Designer Masumi Mewawalla’s bridal label, Pink Peacock Couture, has unveiled ‘Meraki’ — the couturier’s much awaited Autumn Winter 2017 Festive Collection for men and women. True to the label’s signature style, Meraki is a fine marriage of traditional Indian embroidery, rich fabrics, and progressive silhouettes.

Playing with the season’s most loved colours on the bridal runway, the palette ranges from opulent blues, greens, and burgundy to understated greys, whites, nudes and hints of blush. Three dimensional floral motifs and checkered patterns make a breathtaking appearance. Every piece is hand embroidered in hues of rose gold using rare artisanal techniques perfected over generations. The bold silhouettes incorporate cold shoulders, choker collars and off-the-shoulder cuts. The highlight of the collection is the tie-up skirt with an audacious slit, adding intrigue and flamboyance to traditional wedding attire.

“The Indian bride today is not afraid to experiment. With Meraki, we have created empowering silhouettes that reflect the sensibilities of the modern Indian woman. We’ve stayed true to our tradition by incorporating the most authentic Indian karigari from craftsmen across the country. At the same time, every piece has a touch of contemporary drama and glamour reserved for the fashionably bold,” says Masumi, elaborating on the thought process behind the collection.

While the bridal ensembles are touted to make heads turn on runways across the country, the grooms wear collection stands out in its regal simplicity. From jodhpuris, sherwanis to dhotis, there is something to bedazzle every festive occasion. The use of royal colours and vintage rose gold embroidery beautifully complements the feminine counterparts.

‘Meraki' draws inspiration from the young designer’s own path breaking journey in the fashion industry. “Meraki is a Greek word which is used to describe doing something with soul and creativity — to put something yourself into your work,” explains Masumi. “You’ll find my zeal and my passion for design in every piece. It’s been over three years since I began this label at the age of 21. I’m glad I took the plunge and this collection is really close to my heart.”

Crafted for the discerning states of the haut monde, Meraki is all set to make waves this fall. The collection has been launched today at Pink Peacock Couture’s flagship store and popular designer store, Fuel, in Mumbai. The outfits have also been made available digitally on the Pink Peacock Couture’s official website.
