7th Asia Pacific Conference on Exercise and Sports Sciences Inaugurated in New Delhi

•    Being organized for the 1st time in India.
New Delhi, 14th October, 2015: As many as 900 delegates from 41 countries are participating in this conference to debate on a slew of issues, including promotion of research in the sphere of exercise and sports during the continuing three-day international conference on Sports Science till the 16th of October, 2015.
While inaugurating the conference, Chief Guest, Mr. K P Singh Deo, Former Union Minister, President, Emeritus - Rowing Federation Of India said: "Conferences of this type will be an inspiration to not only sports people, but also to policy makers. These will be the stepping stone for India in achieving further excellence”.
Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad and Asian Council of Exercise and Sports Science (ACESS) are together holding the 7thAsia Pacific Conference on Exercise and Sports Science 2015 (APCESS 2015) for these three days. The conference is being supported by the Sports Authority of India. Being organized for the 1st time in India, the conference theme is ‘Inter-disciplinary Applied Approach to Health and Performance Enhancement through Sports Science’.

The conference kick started at the weightlifting auditorium of Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium and will continue at the Manav Rachna International University, Faridabad. Research scholars from countries such as China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Malaysia, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and Zimbabwe graced the occasion with their presence for APCESS 2015.

Prof. P. Chinnappa Reddy, President of National Association of Physical Education honoured Dr. G L Khanna, Dean, FAS, Manav Rachna International University for his exemplary contribution in the field of Sport Sciences. The souvenir for the conference was also released on the occasion. Vol 2 of the MR International Journal of Applied Health Sciences.

Guest of Honour, Sh. Shekhar Dutt, Former Governor-Chhatissgarh said: “This conference is a novel idea, especially since India has in the 21st century been bidding to be at the forefront of developed world and sports. One of the indicators of being a developed country is to do well in sports. Such conferences also inspire the youth to take sports seriously”.

Prof. Dr. Ming-Kai Chin, Advisor, APCESS 2015 informed that APCESS 2015 provides an ideal and strategic platform for scholars from various academic disciplines and institutions to interact, and share best practices, preventative strategies and research in health and sports performance. Most importantly, APCESS 2015 is committed to finding curative solutions within the framework of establishing a Global Exercise Science Network. 200 international renowned speakers representing 41 countries and regions world-wide have lent support to this first historical conference of APCESS to be held in India.
Among the many other eminent speakers present on the occasion were Prof. (Dr.) J Larry Durstine (USA) who spoke on the importance of physical activity and exercise for the promotion of enhanced health or physical performance. Prof. (Dr.) Gudrun Doll Tepper (Germany) spoke on the potential of sports for development and inclusive processes.

Prof. Michiyoshi Ae (Japan) elaborated on the bio-mechanical approach to sport technique research. Dr. Geert Savelssberg (Netherlands) deliberated upon the athletic skills model for optimizing talent development.

Parallel poster sessions, oral presentations, and technical sessions on various aspects of sports physiotherapy and nutrition are being conducted over the three-day period.

At the close of the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Amit Bhalla, Vice President, Manav Rachna Educational Institutions said: ACESS mission is to promote communication, interaction, and cooperation among Asian exercise and sports science professionals and students in educational, scientific and research institutions and to encourage the exploration of issues specific to the Asian regions.

Dr. G L Khanna, Dean-FAS, MRIU stated: “The format of APCESS 2015 is unique. It provides a vibrant platform to young scholars, sports persons and sports officials to collaborate, research and innovate in the field of sports sciences.
