Bangalore, India — December 1st , 2017 – Graphic India, one of India’s leading character entertainment companies, announced today it raised a new financing round of US$5 Million, to further its mission of creating original Indian superheroes and character entertainment franchises.


The Company will aggressively begin launching its characters into international markets as well as expand beyond digital comics and animation, into original mobile content, live-action TV/Film and VR/AR.

With superhero, fantasy and sci-fi content dominating the global media landscape, there has never been a better time to bring India’s own unique worldview and storytelling into these genres. Graphic will target India’s 600-million youth under the age of 25, and also the wider global youth audience, who is now more digitally interconnected and appreciative of diversity in content than any previous generation.

Graphic India was founded by Sharad Devarajan and Liquid Comics with lead investors including, CA Media, the Asian investment arm of The Chernin Group and NYC investment group, Start Media LLC.

The Company has already created content with leading icons from East and West, including Stan Lee, Amitabh Bachchan, Grant Morrison, S.S. Rajamouli, ArkaMediaworks and many more.

The new financing round was led by investors at Liquid Comics with a group of global media and investment leaders participating, including Start Media LLC; Julian Farrior, Co-Founder of Backflip Studios; Mohandas Pai’s 3One4 Capital; Neeraj Bhargava, Founder of Zodius Capital; and others.

Since its launch, Graphic India has been a pioneer in developing some of the country’s most groundbreaking superhero and fantasy characters and shows including:

·         Chakra The Invincible, an animated series created by Devarajan and legendary icon, Stan Lee, which launched on Cartoon Network and through Rovios’s ToonsTV platform. Chakra is also currently in development as a Bollywood Film with Phantom Films.

·         Astra Force, an animated superhero series created by Devarajan and legendary actor, Amitabh Bachchan, which premiered on the Disney Channel;

·         Baahubali: The Lost Legends, produced with S.S. Rajamouli and Arka MediaWorks, an original animated series based on the blockbuster film that launched digitally on Amazon Prime Video and will soon launch on broadcast through Viacom18’s, Colors channel. 

·         18 Days: The Mahabharata, a digital short-form “motion-comic” series, created with best-selling author and pop-culture icon, Grant Morrison, which has received over 7 Million views across YouTube, Facebook and other digital platforms.
