Bengaluru, January 23, 2018: Prime members were in for an extra treat yesterday with 12 hours of early access during Amazon.in’s Great Indian Sale. Customers signed up for Prime at 4.5 times over a normal day, availing top deals across categories. Smartphones remain popular with Samsung A8+ and On7 Prime selling out in a few hours and OnePlus 5T Lava Red variant seeing an entire day’s sale in the first hour.

·         Prime membership - Customers across India continue to see value in Prime membership. Amazon.in added Prime members from over 300 cities, including Srinagar in north, Erode in south, Bhuj in west and Hooghly in East.
·         Amazon Pay - Members enjoyed the fast and convenient experience offered by Amazon Pay balance. Top-ups increased by over 2X*
·         Affordability programs - 5X* jump in customers using No-cost EMI and EMI for their high value purchases. Mobile phones, Large Appliances, Consumer Electronics and Laptops were among the most sought after categories, driven by the availability of no cost EMI on a wide selection.
·         Amazon Devices - Fire TV Stick and Kindle Starter Pack, a unique bundle created for India, best sellers on Amazon.in
·         Smartphones - Exclusive launch of OnePlus 5T Lava Red variant saw a tremendous response with an entire day’s sale being recorded in the first hour alone. OnePlus phones across all variants sold 5X*. Exclusive launches of Samsung A8+ and On7 Prime witness sellers going out of stock in a few hours
·         Televisions - Large premium brands Like Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic record 5X* growth. Amazon Exclusive brands TCL and BPL record 6X* growth
·         Amazon Fashion - Amazon Fashion saw tremendous growth with brands like US Polo, UCB, GAP, Symbol, RedTape, Levis, American Tourister leading the bandwagon
·         Large appliances -  Washing Machines, Refrigerators, ACs, Microwave Ovens and Chimneys saw a 5X* spike led by Haier, IFB, BPL, LG and Whirlpool. There was 9X* increase in sales of ACs led by south region as customers lapped up offers for the upcoming summers.
·         Home category saw a spike of 2.5X with home furnishings seeing a 3X* spike
·         Furniture saw a 2X* jump in sales led by recliners and beds which grew by 7X* and 5X* respectively
·         Kitchen and home appliances saw over 2X* jump in sales during Prime Early Access led by Mixer Grinders, Water Purifiers and Water Heaters. The growth was led by brands Kent (5X*) and HUL (4.5X*)
·         Tools & home improvement - Power & hand tools and cleaning supplies saw a jump of close to 2X* with customers buying products like mops, drill kits and ladders during Prime Early Access.
·         Auto - 75,000 customers added their vehicles into ‘garage’ (3X* vehicle additions) which took vehicles ‘added to garage’ to 3 million!
·         Beauty enthusiasts shopped for 2.5X* more hair care products with Indulekha and Dove being the most sold brands. Skincare saw close to 2X* increase in sales with Nivea being the most sold brand. Top beauty brands were L’oreal, Maybelline and Lakme
·         In Toys, brands like Funskool, Mattel and Hasbro saw a 2X* jump in sales with RC Toys leading the way
·         Everyday Essentials - It was a floury affair for Prime customers as sales of flour went up 3X* on Amazon Pantry!
·         Fitness freaks shopped for Sports Nutrition brands 2.5X* with Optimum Nutrition and MuscleBlaze leading the sales.
·         Book lovers enjoyed 50% off offers. Top books bought by customers were ‘Milk & Honey’ by Rupi Kaur, ‘CBSE Chapterwise Solved Paper - Mathematics’ by Amit Rastogi & Nidhika Singh and ‘The Immortals of Meluha’ by Amish.

Amazon.in’s Great Indian Sale is on from January 21 and will end at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.
