Andre the Giant, a French actor and professional wrestler was known for his gigantism that was caused by excessive production of growth hormone. He inherited the disease Acromegaly from his grandfather. While his birth weight was normal his bones started growing rapidly. As a teenager his height and weight were considered a disability, however, he turned it into his strength by learning how to wrestle. During his growth spurt he worked as a ranch hand on his father’s ranch and could easily do the work of 3 men.
He remained undefeated in all matches for over 10 years from 1977 to 1987. His 1987 feud with Hulk Hogan in Wrestle Mania III is very popular. There are numerous rumors of his drinking record however; some sources claim he drank to tolerate body pain.
