Ingredients for Homemade Instant Khaman Dhokla:
For Batter:
2 cup Gram Flour (Besan/Chickpea Flour)
1½ teaspoons Lemon juice
1 sachet of Eno Fruit Salt
1 teaspoon Grated Ginger
1 Green Chilli Chopped
1 cup Water
1 teaspoon Oil
1 teaspoon Sugar
Salt as per taste
For Tempering:
2 tablespoons Oil
10-15 Curry Leaves
1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
2 Kashmiri Chillies broken into halves
For Garnish:
2 tablespoons chopped Coriander Leaves
How to make Homemade Instant Khaman Dhokla?
There are three ways to cook this Homemade Instant Khaman Dhokla.
1) Steam using a pressure cooker or a idli pot.
2) Bake it in an Oven.
3) Cook it in a Microwave.
You can choose Any of the above methods to cook this delicious and easy dhokla recipe.
How to make the batter for Instant Khaman Dhokla?
Below is the step by step method to prepare the batter for making Instant Khaman Dhokla.
Step 1 -
Take a mixing bowl and put the gram flour (besan) in it.
Step 2 -
Add juice of half a Lemon to the gram flour.
Step 3 -
Grate 1/2 inch of ginger into the flour.
Step 4 -
Add the chopped Green Chillies and mix the ingredients well.
Step 5 -
Add A glass of water, salt and sugar to the mixture and mix it well to form a smooth paste.
Step 6 -
Now for the main ingredient that makes it an instant dhokla batter is ENO. Add a sachet of ENO to the batter and mix well till you see bubbles forming.
Your Homemade Instant Khaman Dhokla Batter is ready.
How to Cook Instant Khaman Dhokla?
The method I have used was to steam the Dhokla batter using an Idli pot.
Method 1 - Steam using a pressure cooker or an idli pot
Step 1 -
Add 2 cups of water to the Idli Pot and keep it to boil.
Step 2 -
Now Grease the container you will be using to make the dhokla with Oil.
Step 3 -
Pour the batter into the container.
Step 4 -
Once the water comes to a boil in the Idli pot put a stand and place the container on it inside the pot. Close the lid and let it cook on steam for about 15 minutes.
Step 5 -
Check the Dhokla if it's cooked using a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean the dhokla is ready.
Method 2 - Bake the Instant Khaman Dhokla in an Oven
Step 1 -
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 425 degrees F / 220 degrees C for 10 minutes.
Step 2 -
Place the Dhokla container in the oven and bake it for 15 minutes.
Step 3 -
Check the Dhokla if it's cooked using a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean the dhokla is ready.
Method 3 - Cook Instant Khaman Dhokla in a Microwave
Step 1 -
Place the Dhokla container in the Microwave.
Step 2 -
Set the Microwave on high and cook it for 8 minutes.
Step 3 -
Check the Dhokla if it's cooked using a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean the dhokla is ready.
How to make Tempering for Khaman Dhokla?
Step 1 -
Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a small Kadai. Add mustard seeds and let them crackle then add the curry leaves and red chillies. Saute all the spices for a few seconds.
Step 2 -
Pour this oil mixture over the Khmana Dhokla.
Step 3 -
Serve the Instant Khaman Dhokla along with sweet and spicy chutney.
