How to clean a kadai?

Here we will tell you how to clean two most commonly found kadai materials that is Aluminium and Iron.

How to clean an aluminum Kadai?

Aluminum Kadai's are made from aluminium which is a lightweight metal often starts getting a black buildup on it, that can be difficult to clean.

To clean an aluminium kadai, there are a few tips you can try, depending on how difficult the burnt-on residue is:

First step is to wash the kadai with a normal dish soap along with warm water to get rid of any grease.

If you have light residue left on your kadai, try boiling some water in the kadai and while the water is boiling use a flat wooden to scrape off the residue.

If that doesn't get rid of the residue then, turn the heat off and let the water cool down a bit and to it Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. The vinegar solution should easily remove any discoloration on the aluminum and get rid of any brunt-on residue.

How to clean iron Kadai?

Cast iron kadai should always be cleaned using warm water only. You don’t need to use dish soap to clean cast iron.

If your kadai is not rusty, just wash your Kadai with only warm water as soon as it’s cool enough to touch.

Do not use light-colored dishcloths to dry your kadai as the leftover oil or residue in the pan can discolor your dishcloths.

To remove sturbon turmeric stains just use a dish sponge to wash.

Once your cast iron kadai is cleaned, just apply a small amount of oil on your pan using some paper towel to coat the entire inside of the kadai.

The oil will protect the kadai from catching rust when it is stored. Make sure to dry the kadai as soon after washing the kadai. To dry the kadai after washing you can use a paper towel, alternatively you can heat the pan on the stovetop till it's completely dry.
