NIke wanted her back into competition as quickly as possible, so they offered her a 70 percent salary reduction to get her back on the field. Felix requested guarantees that she would not be penalised if her productivity suffered a lot of her recent pregnancy, but Nike refused. For The New York Times in May 2019, she wrote an op-ed on her bad maternity care at Nike, which was completely represented by males at the time. Her seven-year sponsorship with Nike came to an end in December 2017, and it was not renewed.
