During the 2018 Asian Games, he came eighth and went on to win the silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships. Shivpal Singh did not make it into the final of the men's javelin throw at the IAAF World Championships. In Doha at the 2019 Asian Championships, Shivpal Singh set a new personal best throw of 86.23 metres, setting a new personal best throw.
At the Budapest Open Athletics in Hungary Shivpal Singh earned the men's javelin throw event in 2016. Because of his elbow injury, he placed eighth in the previous edition of the Asian games (2018), as he was only able to complete one of his three throws. Due to an injury, he was not able to compete at the Junior World Championships in 2015 and was kept out of the team. Shivpal Singh shot the javelin 85.47 metres, which was eligible to compete for the 2020 Olympic Games.
