A rookie deal with South Australia was given to him at the conclusion of the season. During the competition, he demonstrated his versatility with both the bat and the ball, hitting 87 off 42 balls versus Scotland and claiming three wickets opposite Bangladesh in the quarter-final. It became necessary for him to quit Yorkshire earlier than planned when he was invited to Sri Lanka to prepare with Australia's Test team and compete in their One-Day International team.
