Gurugram | June 21, 2019: Piramal Foundation for Education Leadership (PFEL), the education initiative of Piramal Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emory University, USA to build the capacity of Educators, including Headmasters, Teachers and Government Officials, to implement the Social Emotional Ethical (SEE) Learning curriculum in Government schools across India.

PFEL will pilot the SEE Learning curriculum across 5,000 Government schools, to impact 5 lac children across Gujarat, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, in 2 years.


This MoU was signed during a 4 day workshop conducted by Emory University for PFEL, from June 17 – 20, 2019. Through this workshop, Emory University will train and develop over 70 Learning Certified Facilitators from amongst 1500+ PFEL employees, for the next 6-8 months, who will then implement the SEE Learning curriculum by training Headmasters, Teachers and Government Officials.

Important elements of the curriculum include attention training, compassion and ethical discernment, systems thinking and resilience and trauma informed practice. The curriculum builds on expertise from multiple disciplines such as Emotional Intelligence, Neuro Science, Development Psychology, Education and Contemplative Science.

The signing of this MoU follows shortly after the Global Launch of Social, Emotional, and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning™) hosted by The Dalai Lama Trust, Emory University and Vana Foundation in New Delhi, India on April 4-6, 2019. Gavi, NEC, and Simprints to deploy world’s first scalable child fingerprint identification solution to boost immunization in developing countries



~ Memorandum of Understanding signed in Tokyo ~



Tokyo, Japan, June 6, 2019 - Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, NEC Corporation, and Simprints Technology Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding on the use of biometrics to improve immunization coverage in developing countries.

Despite enormous progress over the past two decades, there are still approximately 20 million children (*1) who do not receive a basic course of vaccines worldwide, leaving them exposed to some of the world’s deadliest diseases.

One key cause is the fact that only half of all children under 5 in sub-Saharan Africa are currently registered at birth, leaving many without an official identity. This makes it difficult for health practitioners to ensure these infants get the vaccines they need at the right time.

Guided by Gavi’s experience and expertise in immunization, this new project will combine Simprints’ biometric fingerprint technology and NEC’s reinforced authentication engine to help create digital identities for children 1-5 years of age and boost immunization coverage in developing countries.

This new partnership will deploy the world’s first scalable fingerprint identification solution to give children aged 1-5 a digital ID linked to an accurate, complete medical record. All biometric records will be stored securely by Simprints, a UK-based non-profit social enterprise, after caregivers give informed consent to taking their children’s biometric data.

Implementing this plan with conventional extraction and matching engines would be very challenging, since  young children’s fingerprints tend to be blurred due to their softness. NEC's fingerprint authentication engine has overcome this issue, with optimization for infant fingerprints and the use of fingerprint images taken with Simprints scanners. This combination has resulted in highly accurate authentication, with a certification rate of 99% (*2).



The three partners will begin carrying out proof of concept validation of the technology in Bangladesh and Tanzania by early 2020. If successful, the project will then progress to linking children’s digital identity with their vaccination record, helping health practitioners to track which children need to be vaccinated and when.



Gavi was first established in 2000 at the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum as an alliance for promoting immunization, saving lives and protecting the health of children around the world. Members of the Gavi alliance include governments, the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, the World Bank, vaccination industries, and research institutes. To date, Gavi has contributed to the immunization of over 700 million children in the world’s poorest countries, and an estimated 10 million lives have been saved.



This initiative helps to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations, particularly Goal 3 of ensuring healthy lives for all people of all ages and promoting welfare. This includes provision 3.8 for achieving universal health coverage (UHC), including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all.

NBCC BAGS RS 400 CR CONTRACT IN DUBAI



New Delhi, 2nd Aug 2018:Navratna public sector undertaking NBCC (India) Limited has bagged a Rs 400 crore project awarded to it by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to construct India Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo 2020.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Shri Yogesh Sharma, Executive Director NBCC and Shri Manoj Dwivedi, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, in the presence of Dr. Anup Wadhawan, Commerce Secretary.
The scope of work of the project includes Conceptualization, Design and Construction of 4,614 square meters India Pavilion and other utilities.

Apart from showcasing India’s path breaking programmes like 'Make in India', Smart Cities, 'Digital India', the aim of India Pavilion will also be to showcase India's strength in innovation and start-ups which are pushing the boundaries in high technology areas like artificial intelligence, fin-tech, space and green energy.

The India Pavilion sub- themed as ‘OPPORTUNITY’, will be a fine blend of modern outlook and billion dreams and millions of opportunities with a focus on building a happy world. The immense cultural diversity of India will also be on display at the pavilion.

The Dubai World Expo 2020, which will remain open for six months, is expected to have footfalls of more than 10 million visitors from 200 countries.

The main theme of Dubai World Expo 2020 is ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ with three sub-themes – Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability – to generate sustainable solutions to global problems, demands and collaboration areas across cultures, countries and regions.

Hyundai Motor India Signs MoU with Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC)

Under this agreement, the training program will be conducted at six Hyundai dealerships associated with Hyundai’s World-Class Technical Training Academy-HTTA across India. India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. (ITDC) the public sector undertaking under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism, govt of India today signed a MoU with Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) to provide customised E-ticketing solutions to CGDA on pan- India basis. It is of great relevance that ITDC and CGDA celebrated their foundation day on the same day, 1st October.

Under this collaboration, ITDC’s travel wing Ashok Travels and Tours (ATT) will conduct the complete procedure for CGDA to create an e-ticketing platform to ensure smooth functioning of air travel needs.

The 25th Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) was inaugurated here at Chennai today by the legendary Professor Arjun Das, Prof Emeritus, Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University. Over 1800 doctors from all over India and abroad are participating in this 4 day National Conference at ITC Grand Chola, Guindy till 10th September, 2017. Dr. C. U. Velmurugendran, Chairman and Dr. U. Meenakshisundaram, Secretary, IANCON 2017 along with Dr. A. V. Srinivasan, President, IAN were present with other dignitaries. A textbook on neurology and commemorative stamp about the conference were launched.

The Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) and the Association of Indian Neurologists of America (AINA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote collaboration between the two organisations. The MoU, said Mr. Sanjay Singh, secretary, AINA, would facilitate the education of four young Indian neurologists in the United States; joint educational conferences with the two organisations; exchange of visits of experts from both countries; and collaboration in research.
The conference will have sessions on Epilepsy, Stroke, Headache, Infections, Spine neurology, Migraine etc. by internationally acclaimed neurologists, sharing the latest advancements in diagnosis and treatment.

Shiv Nadar University Signs MoU with CENJOWS


New Delhi, 26 July 2017: Shiv Nadar University and the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate academically on matters related to international relations, regional and global security. Dr. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University and Lt. Gen Vinod Bhatia, CENJOWS Director signed the MoU in the presence of Dr. S.N. Balakrishnan, Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University and Lt Gen D.B. Shekatkar (Retd) at the India International Centre, New Delhi on July 24. The event was attended by members of the Government, the armed forces and academia.

International security concerns as well as changing requirements in the light of technological breakthroughs necessitate rightsizing of the armed forces and efficient use of the resources. This was the dominant theme at a panel discussion which was organised prior to the signing of the MoU. The panel discussion comprised members of the Shekatkar Committee, which was created by the Government of India to suggest measures to enhance the combat capability of the armed forces and reforming the defence budget. The Committee submitted its report in December 2016 and several of its recommendations are reported to have been accepted for implementation.

In addition to Lt Gen Shekatkar and Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia, Lt Gen Sanjay Kulkarni and Mr. R. Chandrashekhar – also members of the Committee – participated in the discussion. The members talked about important aspects of the report. In his concluding remarks, Chancellor Dr. Balakrishnan reaffirmed the Shiv Nadar University’s appreciation and gratitude to the armed forces for their services to the country. He also reiterated the University’s philosophy and commitment to creating knowledge and solutions that serve national needs.

This was the first public discussion on the report and the members thanked Shiv Nadar University for taking the initiative to inform the general public about its importance. The MoU marks another effort from Shiv Nadar University to forge linkages with institutions of repute to collaborate on critical areas of societal needs.

New Delhi, July 4, 2017: Adventz Group, the Indian global conglomerate, has signed a US$2-billion-plus memorandum of understanding with Israel’s Lesico group to collaborate in the light rail transit (LRT) projects in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The announcement came today in the backdrop of a top-level Indian political and business delegation led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi touring the nation currently. The historic visit – first time for any Indian PM – is being seen as a watermark in deepening economic and trade relationships between New Delhi and Tel Aviv.  

The MoU between Lesico with Adventz Group will be a first for an Indian conglomerate with Group company Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, which will lend its exeprtise in building the Tel Aviv Metropolitan Area Mass-Transit System. TEXMACO’s role involves laying of tracks, installation of signaling, electrification, power sub-stations, and, command, control & communication equipment.

As per the MoU, TEXMACO’s expertise is being sought in track-related works for the Tel-Aviv Red-Line and Jerusalem Green-Line LRT projects. The Tel-Aviv red line will be the first section of Light rail system in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and the line will run in the northeast part of the Capital city with a significant portion of it underground. The total cost of the red line is estimated at approximately US$3 billion. The 19.6 km Jerusalem Green line will link the two campuses of the Hebrew University and continue towards South of the Holy City. There would be 36 stops in the Green Line, and is predicted to be used by 2 Lac passengers per day.

Thousands of villagers are expected to be benefitted under exchange of this MOU and these “Model Ganga Grams” would form part of Namami Gange and Swachh Bharat programs launched by the Government of India. Gandhinagar, 1st July, 2017: Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), India’s largest vocational training provider in apparel sector signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) with the aim of bridging the gap between the requirement and availability of skilled workforce and setting up ATDC center for training at SUC campus at Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The MoU was signed between Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG &CEO, ATDC; Dr. R.N. The first event of the series was organized today at Zilla Parishad, Kolkata in collaboration with All Bengal Steel Furniture Manufacturers' Association (ABSFMA). The ceremony was inaugurated by the chief guests - Sri Dipankar Chakraborty, GM – District Industries Centre, Dept. of MSME, Govt. of West Bengal and Mr. Dilip Majumdar, Branch Manager, Punjab National Bank, Barasat.

Under the SME Transformation Camps initiative, FMC and Power2SME will reach out to and bring together a large base of SME groups by conducting a series of on-ground activations and events throughout the year. With an objective of empowering SMEs digitally Power2SME will educate SMEs on technological means to address the issues related to raw material procurement and working capital loans.

Today at Kolkata SME Transformation Camp attended by approx. 80 SMEs, Power2SME hosted a discussion to deliberate on opportunities and strategies on ‘how technology as a business enabler’ can empower SMEs through digitization. The core focus of the discussion was on the benefits of technology up-gradation, raw material procurement and other aspects that SMEs can leverage to enhance their production efficiency and market reputation.

Commenting on the initiative undertaken, Mr. Sumit Bhatia, Senior Vice President - Business Operations, Power2SME said, “Contribution of MSME in Indian economy, both in terms of employment and national production is huge but the sector is facing some challenges in terms of raw material procurement, financial support and digital literacy. We at Power2SME believe that technology can act as boon to address these pressing issues and via SME transformation camps, we aim to equip MSMEs with required skills and knowledge to help them improve profit margin, business efficiency and make them more bankable.

The Cyber Security course under this MOU will offer sound knowledge and understanding of threats and challenges, concepts and practices applied in Cyber Security. Curriculum will be industry specific and students picking up the courses will also learn the skill of computer crime and digital forensics, evaluating software for security vulnerabilities, designing secure databases, securing operating systems, performing risk assessments, integrating security requirements into new developments, designing secure network architectures, assessing and reinforcing the security of websites, responding to cyber security incidents.

Students will develop skills that are crucial to the success of the country’s digital future while gaining the expertise required to take on roles as an expert on Cyber Security and Data Sciences in technology companies, government organizations and law enforcement agencies.

The MoU between Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and Canon India Private Limited would promote film education through short-term courses across several towns and cities in the country. Under FTII's unique initiative SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television) several short courses, mostly of skill-oriented nature have been proposed to be held in collaboration with State Governments, Universities and Educational institutions.

FTII Pune, one of Asia's leading and India's foremost institute in film and television education has been preparing to break new grounds by pushing to democratise cinematic education by offering quality and affordable training to general public and practitioners alike at locations where there is a demand for such courses.
