She received her education at the Udgam School for Children in Ahmedabad, where she majored in commerce. She was trained at the Gujarat Vidyapeeth Swimming Centre under the guidance of Kamlesh Nanavati. The Dolphin Aquatics in Bengaluru is where she is actually preparing under coach Nihar Ameen.
Maana Patel Career
She beacme the first Indian female swimmer to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics to participate in the 100m backstroke event in the women's competition. The 21-year-old swimmer was sidelined by an ankle injury in 2019. At 13 years of age she set a new national record of 2:26.41s in the 200m backstroke at the 40th Junior National Aquatics event in Hyderabad, breaking previous mark of of 2:26.41s held by Shikha Tandon's at the Asian Age Group Tournaments in Tokyo in August 2009.
At the National Games, Maana Patel took home gold medals in the 50-metre backstroke and the 200-metre backstroke. Additionally, Maana Patel received a gold medal in the 100 metre backstroke at the 60th National School Games (2015) where she break the national record in backstroke. In 2015, she was chosen to participate in the Olympic Gold Quest. In 2016 at the 12th South Asian Games, she had earned silver medals in the 50 metre, 100 metre, and 200 metre backstrokes, bronze in the 50 metre freestyle, gold in the 4×100 metre freestyle relay, and bronze in the 4×100 metre medley relay.
Maana Patel was awarded with three gold medals at the 72nd Senior National Aquatic Championships - 2018. Maana took home six medals (4 silver, 1 gold, and 1 bronze) at the 10th Asian Age-group Championships-2019, which took place in Bangalore, India. As of October 2021, Maana Patel has managed to win 32 international medals, 99 national medals, and 31 national records.
