Freyr Energy ties up with Axis Bank to offer Term loan facility to its MSME customers in Punjab & Haryana


August 28, 2017: Freyr Energy, a full service solar provider, has tied up with Axis Bank to offer term loan facility ranging from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakhs for up to 5-years tenure to its customers in Punjab & Haryana. This move will help Freyr Energy’s customers in reducing their power bills drastically and also, improve affordability significantly. The loans will be given to MSME’s & self-employed individuals to install their solar roof tops for industrial & commercial purposes.

Videocon Group to invest Rs 500Cr in Punjab through Connect Broadband

Chandigarh, April 13 2017: Videocon promoter Shri Raj Kumar Dhoot in his meeting with Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh today expressed his keenness to digitally enable the state by offering hi-speed internet by deploying VDSL technology on copper network which is the latest deployment in international market.

To help spreading the digital reach, and to further strengthen market presence in Punjab, Videocon Industries is planning to inject Rs. 500 Cr in its wire-line & broadband arm Connect Broadband.

The development comes at a time when the Punjab Chief Minister is on his visit to Mumbai to attract investors to Punjab. The one-on-one interaction with Shri Raj Kumar Dhoot was one amongst the bigwigs of a few other large industrial groups which are keen on exploring investment opportunities in the state.

Videocon had recently announced investment of Rs 257 Cr to bring high broadband speed of 50 Mbps. With internet speed as focus area, VDSL technology which is a unique combination of fibre and Vectorization will deliver superfast speed and provide faster downloads, less buffering, and an ultra-reliable Wi-Fi connection for all the devices at home. This technology would be made available to the customers at no extra cost. Driven by a futuristic approach, Connect Broadband has initiated the testing of G Fast technology and soon would be converting the entire network to VDSL.

In technology arena, Videocon is engaged in multiple business lines in the state, which include smart communication solutions, digital marketing, security and surveillance and devise manufacturing. The group is also expanding and investing in up-gradation of its call centre at Jalandhar. This state of the art call centre will have 500 seats and will create more employment opportunities in the state.

Videocon is focused on partnering with the government in executing smart city and smart governance initiatives. For smart city projects the group has entered in strategic collaboration with technology leaders across the globe. It has its own optical fibre cable laid across the state to enable the smart city projects.
Mr Dhoot is expected to travel to Punjab soon to further take these investment initiatives forward.

Hindustan Power commissions 50 MW solar plant in Punjab

Commissioned at an investment of INR 325 crores, the solar plant generates~ 2,20,000 units of clean energy per day.

The solar plant is capable of addressing the energy requirements of 73000 household per day and has been built using crystalline silicon technology.

Plans to commission incremental 200 MW in the next 18 -24 months.

Company has invested ~ INR 5000 crores in building its portfolio across India.

March 28, 2017: New Delhi: The Clean energy arm of Hindustan Power commissioned its second solar power plant in Punjab at an investment of INR 325 crores. The high degree of solar insolation in the state is enabling a generating of 2,20,000 units of clean energy per day. The commissioning of the 50 MW solar plant increases the cumulative solar capacity of the company in Punjab to 80 MWs.
Situated in the cotton farming region of Punjab, the solar plant is part of the drive to promote clean energy and turn farmers into green energy entrepreneurs.  The Project was awarded by the Punjab Energy Development Agency on Bidding Route and the PPA has been signed with Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).

Speaking on the occasion, Ratul Puri, Chairman Hindustan Power said, “By comparing high-resolution solar resource data at various locations, we were able to identify, and secure investments in the most promising sites for solar photovoltaic power plants in Punjab. Hence, we were able to invest ~ INR 525 crores and quickly ramp up the cumulative capacity of the company in Punjab to 80.0 MW over last 9 months. Our plan is to commission incrementally 200 MW in Punjab in the next 18 -24 months.”

Rajya Ghei, CEO – Domestic Solar, Hindustan Power said, “The proactive approach of the people of Punjab allowed us to commission the projects quickly. I must mention the role of PEDA officials and PSPCL official were very decisive in completion of the project.  Our design and engineering team have designed the farm to leverage the irradiance the area receives and generate maximum output.”

With a current solar capacity of ~ 600MW, the company is one of the key players championing the adoption of solar on mass scale in India. The clean energy arm of the company is generating carbon savings of approx 720000 tonnes per year.

The historic Fort Gobindgadh is all set for a touch of digitisation and virtual reality technology which will bring alive its rich heritage and tales of bravery.This venture is the undertaking of Actress and director Deepa Sahi through her company Maya Digital in a 15 year public private partnership with the Government of Punjab.


A blue print of the legacy of the fort has been prepared by her team and stories and displays in the fort will bear witness to the erstwhile grandeur and rich vein of culture that Amritsar was known for.  The initial phase of the project will see half a portion of the fort being made open to the public from the 13th of December 2016.

Commenting on the project Deepa Sahi said, “Being a Punjabi I always wanted to do something to promote the varied culture of Punjab. I was working on a historic project when I got to know that Punjab Government is planning to do something about the legacy of Fort Gobingadh. When I realized that, I made a proposal to the Punjab Government and received a positive response following which I began working on the project. We have used many latest technologies to display the rich history of the Fort and its erstwhile rulers and I am sure people will like it. It is my dream that we have more tales to tell of India and wonders to talk about other than just the TajMahal” 

The idea came from the fact that today museums are just mute displays of artefacts and antiquities which are not the best testimonies to educate the youth. Generally in a museum we find clothes of the soldiers, their arms and ammunitions displayed which no longer excites the young mind. This project will look to make history alive and engaging using modern technology and virtual reality.

Visitors will take a plunge into history with the assistance of modern technology. In addition to the displays and shows, there will be a whole host of stalls, which will focus largely on Punjabi handicraft, arts and Punjabi food stalls along with cuisines of the royalty at that period. A special 3D Stereoscopic show on King Ranjeet Singh and his soldiers will also be aired in addition to multimedia shows on the history of Amritsar. Virtual songs and dances of the time will also be presented, and as these shows are targeting today’s generation there will be new generation artists who will also perform and showcase their talent. In the second phase there will be amusement park for children, luxury tinted themes and children’s park that will be made with modern techniques.
