Archie Manning went to school at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. He served as Ole Miss' starting quarterback for a total of three years during his time there. A defeat against Alabama by a score of 33–32 occurred during the debut national prime time broadcast of a college football game in 1969. In that game, Archie Manning threw for 436 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for 104 yards. But the remaining of the squad wasn't as good as him, and even though Archie Manning was a very good player, the Rebels only went 15–7 in his final two seasons. He threw for 4,753 yards and 31 touchdowns in college, and ran for 823 yards. In 1969, he had 14 touchdowns to his credit.
