Brittney Griner’s Gender Identity

Griner has been subjected to a great deal of harassment throughout her life, including derogatory remarks and inquiries over her gender identity. Brittney Griner, a well-known star in the sport of women's basketball, recently discussed her sexual orientation in an interview with Maggie Gray of Sports Illustrated. The conversation took place not long after Griner was chosen first overall in the WNBA draught in 2013. She found the courage to come clean about her secret identity to the general public for the first time which was a great surprise for her parents and added fuel to the fire of the conflict that already existed between her and her father.

Brittney Griner is not a transgender as many rumours suggest, nor is she a guy; she just looks more masculine than the typical woman. On the contrary, she identifies as a lesbian. When Brittney Griner was born, she was identified as a female. Griner claims that at this point in her life, she is well aware that others view her as more masculine than the typical woman, but she maintains that despite this perception, she still identifies as a woman.

Brittney was able to debunk the primary misconception that was centred on her life, despite the fact that her father did not accept her as his daughter. The fact that she has a personality that is distinct from that of other women is sufficient evidence that she is not a transgender. In addition to this, despite the fact that she clothes and acts like a guy, she still plays basketball. She said that the one and only occasion she had ever dressed as a woman was at her mother's insistence, and that she had made a solemn promise to herself that she would never do so again.
